Veterans Memorial progress at Cal Farley's
There are times in our lives when we have to step up and give a little more than the norm. Thousands of American Veterans have stepped up and met this challenge by providing the foundation for what we enjoy today. Even today when we are safe at home snuggled in our safe environment there are those who are sitting on top of a mountain in Afghanistan and around the world who are enduring the hardships of combat or military service with one thought in mind. This thought is to protect those at home, and those who are not born yet from having to live the life of repression. Most of us do not even know the name of the soldiers fighting for our way of life and thus call them Veterans.
What Is Different about Cal Farley’s Veterans
But what happens to those soldiers who have met the call of military service or died in service honorably? Is it not our responsibility as Americans to place their names in stone as a representation of their selfless service. Here is where the dilemma arises in building a monument at Cal Farley’s boys ranch. Most of the service members who graduated Cal Farley’s Girlstown and Boys ranch do not have family ties because of the situations they were in prior to going to Cal Farley’s nonprofit homes. Unlike a normal family, after graduation and because of their military service, many still do not have family supporting members, and are forced to continue their life alone. Even in the face of this hardship these Veterans were willing to join the military and endure the unknown alone. They have shown their courage, and it is now time for us to show our appreciation for that courage.
Success
We, with your help, have the chance to ensure that these people receive the honor they deserve, but the success of this endeavor lies completely upon the public. These Veterans deserve to have their name placed in stone alongside Cal and Mimi Farley’s burial site (The founders of Cal Farley’s). The completion of this project will directly motivate the young men and women of Cal Farley’s in the future by providing a legacy of honor to the children who live there, and provide a home to rest the name of our honored Veterans.
By reserving A $25 Veterans Memorial T-Shirt or making a small donation, the men and women who have served honorably will be provided a memorial for others to see their selfless service.
The Building Of a Memorial
Initial steps have been taken to build a Veterans Memorial to both those former residence of Cal Farley’s who have served in the military and especially those who has sacrificed their lives in service to their country. To complete this task we now meet a great deal of effort and funding. The memorial will provide 4×8 and 8×8 spaces for tile to honor Cal Farley’s Veterans. It will also have Pavers and Steps as part of the memorial which can be purchased by others wishing to have a part in the Memorial.
The point of contact for pavers, steps and commercial recognition concerning donations need to contact Mister Bobby Sarpalius at:

or Mister Dan Adams at:

In either case make sure to advise them that you want to discuss the building of the Veterans Memorial at Cal Farley’s.
This T-shirt booster drive is designed to help carry some of the financial burden of building this monument, close to the courthouse, at Cal Farley’s boys ranch in Amarillo, Texas. Through buying a Veterans Alumni Memorial Supporter’s T-shirt we show our support for the building of this monument, and also honor all American Veterans. At this time we have raised $957 which is only a portion of what is needed to build this on Monument. Thanks to Cal Farley’s boys ranch and the alumni leadership, we have been able to secure an architect to designed, draft, and set the building process into motion. It is now up to us, as American citizens, to step up and funded this much-needed project.

The legacy we leave behind for our children
As a teen, I was very self-centered and was only worried about my individuality. I know now, because of my personal actions, I hurt several people feelings throughout my teenage years. If it was not for Cal Farley’s staff members I would never have had the chance to learn about selfless service, honor, integrity, and family. During my four years at Cal Farley’s I was molded into the person I am today. So when I graduated from Cal Farley’s boys ranch in Amarillo Texas joining the military seem to be the appropriate thing to do. I fit right in because of my advanced knowledge of duty, country, and selfless service. As I look back on my 17 a half years of service, even though I became disabled in combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, I have had the privilege of knowing many great soldiers. It seems that my life has come to a full circle because I now belong to the Cal Farley’s boys ranch alumni Association, which directly aligns with my passion of building a Veterans Memorial at Cal Farley’s boys ranch in Amarillo Texas and supporting the elderly. This Association assists in crisis management for senior citizens throughout the United States.
According to SeniorJournal.com, “Among most countries, the U.S. is at or near the bottom in nine key areas of health support:”
1. Infant mortality and low birth weight;
2. Injuries and homicides;
3. Teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections;
4. Prevalence of HIV and AIDS;
5. Drug-related deaths;
6. Obesity and diabetes;
7. heart disease;
8. chronic lung disease; and
9. disability.
40.3 million

The fact is millions of people are reaching the age of senior citizen, and need our assistance either now or in the near future. Cal Farley’s boys ranch alumni Association through crisis management is reaching out to assist many of these senior citizen. There is a different element in which Cal Farley’s alumni are faced with. This element is based on the fact each of these children faced then, and many of them face today; either they did not or do not have a normal family structure to support them as senior citizens. I know many of the readers support needed out-of-country missions, but I propose we should first take care of our own Americans first before sending funding out of the country. By supporting Cal Farley’s boys ranch alumni Legacy program we can not only take care of senior citizen but also provide crisis management for people within our borders who truly need our support. Legacy program not only assists senior citizens but also provides scholarships to all Cal Farley’s associates and performs mentor-ship programs to assist in developing young adults into productive partners in our society. By becoming a legacy part you can assist in efforts to provide crisis management in situation like this: In 2013 a senior citizen arrived back from a foreign country and started their new job. Within the first week this person had a massive heart attack, and because this person did not have a family member to help them out, the alumni Association stepped in and provide crisis management in the form of providing a month’s worth of food through Walmart cards to this individual. This action gave this person a chance to heal up until they were able to go back to work. Without the donation of others, Cal Farley’s alumni who do not have families would not be able to receive assistance when severe situations like this happen. Help us to be able to provide crisis management by becoming a Legacy partner. Whether it is five dollars a month or a one-time donation every little bit helps and is appreciate. To receive more information about the Cal Farley’s legacy program please click here: Legacy Program Each year the CFBRAA is able to provide services which are not duplicated by Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch. Efforts of the Alumni Association are targeted for services and support for alumni members. Scholarships and Special Needs support are available through the Alumni Association thanks to the generous support of alumni members, supporters, sponsors and corporate donations. We hope you too will join our efforts and make a gift online today to help us help our alumni families. Remember even a five dollars donation helps assist in crisis management.

Veterans thank you for your service
Here is what is going on with the Cal Farley's Veterans Memorial booster drive:
There is only 24 hours left to order your limited edition Cal Farley's Veterans Memorial Supporter T-shirt. After 3 PM November 12 no other orders will be taken.
Ronald Reagan once said, "History teaches that war begins when governments believe the price of aggression is cheap." Few can understand the true price of the freedoms we enjoy every day because it’s not a fight that has been experienced firsthand. However, one thing is and always will be certain. It is because of those who are ready and willing to serve and sacrifice for the common good that we continue to be the greatest nation on earth."
I cannot express my gratitude enough to every veteran, but as stated by George Bush Junior on board of the USS Intrepid - New York, NY on November 11, 2008 “These noble Americans are our sons and daughters. They are our fathers and mothers. They are our family and they are our friends. They leave home to do the work of patriots -- and they lead lives of quiet dignity when they return. Today we send a clear message to all who have worn the uniform: Thank you for your courage, thank you for your sacrifice, and thank you for standing up when your nation needed you most. We have a moral obligation to support our families, and we have a moral obligation to support our veterans.”
I really do appreciate any help with our booster drive. We now have over 61 T-shirts ordered and have raised $697, with 24 hours left in our booster drive. It is now crunch time because production of the T-shirts will start on Tuesday, 12 November.
If you have not ordered a T-shirt, time is running out to get your limited edition Cal Farley's veterans memorial supporter T-shirt!
At this time I am asking everyone copy the below statement and paste it to your Facebook page or WordPress page in support of building a memorial for veterans through the Cal Farley's booster drive.

Veterans Remembered
Please enjoy the video.
Monday November 11th is a fitting day for the end of our Veterans Memorial T-shirt drive. As you watch this video please keep in mind that at least one of hundreds, of Cal Farley graduates, has been in the military between the period of World War II and our present engagements in Afghanistan and the Middle East. These American warriors came from humble beginnings at the ranch, but because of what they learned at the Cal Farley’s and their willingness to overcome unthinkable odds, we have the lifestyle afforded to us today. Every night when we go to bed each of us should remember that there are several of our brothers and sisters on guard, watching over us as we sleep. Many of us decided to join military service based upon the influences and ideology we learned from growing up in a place which solely survived on the donations of the public. We also should remember, because of these basic values many of Cal Farley’s soldiers were highly decorated because of their selfless service. Let me have the privilege of sharing a few bullets from my bronze star and Army commendation medal with the V-device award receive during Afghanistan and Iraq military engagements.
In no way am I trying to place a feather in my hat, but instead I am trying to explain what these Cal Farley’s soldiers go through and the extent of their dedication to protect and to serve.
Here are a few bullets from both awards:
• Staff Sergeant Linam deployed is mortar team to the Pesh River Valley for a period of 60 days, living in the most austere conditions. While there, they fired over 400 rounds destroying over 16 enemy observation points and entry forms, thus denying the anti-coalition military use of the Pesh River Valley.
• Staff Sergeant Linam deployed is mortar team to the Tagab Valley in support of combat operations and led his men in numerous call for fire missions, destroying an unknown number of ACM fighters. During one of the engagements, the threat of the forward operation base being overrun was great and staff Sergeant Linam used a handheld 60 mm mortar in different locations to defend the fort operation base; risking his own life to save fellow soldiers.
• Sergeant first class Linam, United States Army, distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious service to the United States as second platoon Sergeant for “A” company, one/180th infantry Battalion, task force 134, multinational force Iraq, Baghdad Iraq.
• Sergeant first class Linam recovered written intelligence of the enemy and had taken great care to secure this information. The intelligence was later discovered to be highly vital to the security and stability of the company. On numerous accounts Sergeant first class Linam advised officers in charge on tactical and technical solutions developing within and around the facility and insured personnel and equipment accountability for over $10 million worth of government equipment and structures. He displayed flexibility and foresight that comes with experience. Coupled with his excellent decision-making and leadership style he inspired subordinate leaders and soldiers to accomplish numerous missions and additional tasks assigned to them. He also responded and played a key role in ensuring that all detainees were treated with dignity and respect according to the Hague and Geneva Convention and the customary law of war.
This is just my story of two combat engagements while in the military, but each Cal Farley Veteran has their own unique story. Between now and Memorial Day on Monday November 11 Please, step up and order a T-shirt to support all of Cal Farley’s veterans who have given their selfless service to ensure our freedoms. Without your direct support of the building of Cal Farley’s Veterans Memorial these veterans will remain un-honored.
Finally for a mere $24 donation, we have the chance to build a monument for Cal Farley’s veterans, which will inspire not only the people who see it, but also will show the children growing up there(for years to come) that they too can aspire to greater heights.
